Celebrate feats of engineering past, present, and future, and network with other engineering professionals.
Engineers whether civil, mechanical, structural or other variety, have an enormous impact on the quality of life enjoyed by those living in regional Australia. Their technical and budgetary decisions affect everything from the quality of our roads and water systems, through to our communications infrastructure and transport safety. As part of a general promotion of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths), particularly to our region’s young people, the engineers of the region are coming together for the first time to celebrate their noble profession and share the experience with all comers who may be interested in the field.
Topics to be covered include :
- A proposal to tunnel through Brown Mountain to, along with other measures, bring the Canberra-Bega travel time down to 2 hours. A discussion of what this might cost and other ideas will be exchanged.
- Snowy Hydro, the largest machine in the world (and not it’s not the Hadron Collider)
- Are software engineers real engineers?
